Radio Mi Amigo International - Europe's No.1 Oldies Station - 6085 kHz and online

Radio MI AMIGO INTERNATIONAL

Radio Mi Amigo International is a modern radio station that revives the spirit of the "Golden Era of Offshore Free Radio." It's owned and operated from Spain but broadcasts using powerful shortwave transmitters located in the heart of Europe, specifically in Kall, Germany, in the Eifel region.

The station aims to bring back the classic AM sound and 'free-Radio' presentation style' of the pirate radio ships that once broadcast from international waters off the coasts of the UK and the Netherlands in the 1960s and 70s, blending it with today's technology.

It broadcasts daily on shortwave at 6085 kHz in the 49-meter band from 9 AM to 7 PM Central European Time, reaching listeners across Europe and beyond. Additionally, it offers 24/7 online streaming in high-quality stereo via multiple web streams, making it accessible worldwide.

The station focuses on music from the 1960s to the 1980s: carefully selected oldies that echo the playlists of the original offshore stations, along with some newer tracks that fit its vibe.

The DJs, many of whom are veterans of legendary pirate stations like Radio Caroline, Radio Mi Amigo, and others, (unlike todays computer programmed radio) pick their own music, keeping the free-spirited ethos of those early days alive.

Named after the MV Mi Amigo, the famous ship that a.o. hosted Radio Caroline and the original Radio Mi Amigo, the station is run by a team with deep roots in offshore radio history. It's led by station manager Lion Keezer, a former Radio Caroline contributor, and features personalities such as Emperor Rosko, Ron O'Quinn, Paul Graham, Paul Newman, and Johnny Lewis, alongside French, German and Dutch-speaking DJs such as Bruno Hantsen (BE), Andy Gordon (DE), Lion Keezer (NL) and Johan Vermeer (NL). They present live and pre-recorded shows in English, Dutch German and Dutch, often infused with nostalgia, jingles, and a pirate radio flair.

Beyond shortwave and online, in the past Radio Mi Amigo International (founded in 2015) has also broadcast on FM in parts of Spain and on medium wave in the Baltic States. But in 2016 the station got its own shortwave transmitter on 6085 kHz which is on air daily ever since.

Listeners are encouraged to send reception reports, which are answered with digital QSL cards, a nod to the traditions of radio amateurs. The station calls itself 'Europe's Number 1 Oldies Station', but appeals to fans of vintage music and the rebellious charm of the free offshore stations of yesteryear, all over the world.

Unique, vintage but professional international radio that is still good to listen to today: 'the music of the past with the technology and presentation style of today'. In a unique mix of retro vibes and modern reach, which maintains a legendary radio (and music) legacy.
