Radio Mi Amigo's 6085 kHz transmitter back on the air! Breaking news, Saturday, July 24: After 10 days of cleaning, pumping out 15.000 liter of water, engineers Christian and Rudi managed to get all 3 Shortwave transmitters in the underground Sendezentrum bunker in Kall-Krekel, in the German Eifel that was hit so hard by extreme rainfall, back online. On behalf of everyone at Radio Mi Amigo, we thank Rudi, Christian, Sabine, Burkhard and everyone who worked so hard to help save this unique broadcast centre! See Mi Amigo's Facebook page for a short video of that magic moment the transmitters came back online. Severe water damage in German Eifel broadcast facility Kall-Krekel, July 12: Unusual heavy rainfall from the past days did a lot of damage in parts of Limburg (NL), Belgium and unfortunately also in the German Eifel area... This very sad picture, shows some of the transmitter equipment in our Sende Zentrum in Kall-Krekel, where water seems to have entered the broadcast bunker. A potential disaster for this unique broadcast centre (see video here) from where Radio Mi Amigo's Shortwave 6085 kHz signal has been transmitted uninterrupted, daily, ever since 2016. Our 6085 TX is on a different (higher) level, but all transmitters in the facility had to be shut off, due to the water in other parts of the bunker affecting vital electrical power circuits. Christian Milling of ShortwaveService estimates all transmissions from the Sendezentrum (such as 6005 kHz, 3985 kHz, FM Radio 700 and others) may even be down for a few weeks. We hope the damage can be controlled, as there is a lot of unique vintage equipment in the early-60s cold war atomic bunker. We wish our friends in Kall-Krekel the best of luck containing the damage and hope things can be fixed and repaired soon.

October 31, 2016... Exactly 4 years ago today, somewhere near the small village of Kall in the German Eifel our 6085 kHz Rhode & Schwarz SK1 shortwave transmitter was fired up for the first time. Now, 4 years later, Radio Mi Amigo enters it's 5th year on 6085 kHz, shortwave...

Attention TuneIn-listeners in the UK...

UK based listeners lately complained they can no longer receive us via the TuneIn app and in some cases Alexa too.

We can assure you, there is nothing wrong with our streams, it's just that the TuneIn service is now blocking ALL stations from outside the UK, as the result of losing a UK copyright lawsuit.

All other apps and direct links to international radio stations still work in the UK, this is solely a TuneIn issue.

Unfortunately, some Google Alexa speakers also seem to use the TuneIn station directory, so if you are using Alexa in the UK, you may encounter problems as well. Both TuneIn and Alexa still work in all other countries outside the UK.

UK listeners can still get us and other international stations via alternative apps and/or direct links, just no longer via TuneIn.

We advise using a different service or app, there are many of them around, and they all still work!

Or best: tune in directly from the players here, on the Radio Mi Amigo International website.

The Legend continues...

Emperor Rosko signs for another year with Radio Mi Amigo!

He has signed up for another year: our 'King Of Rhythm, King of Rhyme': The legendary Emperor Rosko. His weekly update from Los Angeles, California: 'The LA Connection', can be heard for another full year on the station that originated on the very same radio ship where 'Emperor' Rosko's illustrious career began...

Because it was in the turbulent year 1964 that the young American Rosko first set foot on Radio Caroline's radio ship the 'mv Mi Amigo'. The rest is history, Rosko became a household name with a large European radio audience through his turbulent shows on stations such as Radio Caroline, Radio Luxemburg, RTL Paris and BBC Radio One. But for the last 3 years he is back to his roots...

"Radio Mi Amigo International and The Emperor Rosko are proud to announce that Rosko's show 'The LA Connection' - due to great success - has been extended and will air on our station for yet another full year. Delighted to still have Rosko firmly on board with us, we look forward to a great new radio year 'as the Legend Continues ...' "

This vintage 1959 transmitter, which has been restored to its original condition, will be interred for 10 days during the 'Offshore Days' event, which will be held from 22 to 31 August in the Mi Amigo International pavilion / studio in Blankenberge. Naturally, our regular transmitter on 6085 kHz (49m band) remains in the air simultaniously The 3985 kHz frequency in the 75m band usually gives excellent reception throughout Europe during the day.
